ISCGM

The International Steering Committee for Global Mapping (ISCGM) is the organization established in 1996 in order to promote the development of the Global Map.

This Committee comprises 20 members, such as the heads of the National Mapping Organizations of each country and the representatives of the international organizations. The chairperson is D.R. Fraser Taylor, Chancellor and Professor of Carlton University in Canada.

As a general rule, ISCGM holds a meeting each year in various locations in the world, in which measures for promoting the participation in the project and the data compilation are considered.

The Geographical Survey Institute of Japan has taken charge of the Secretariat of ISGCM since its establishment, playing a central role in promoting the Global Mapping Project, strongly supported by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
