Specification Specification of the Global Map is as follows:
Coverage of the whole land area on the earth
The Global Map Version1 was released June, 2008.

Global Map version 0 produced by converting existing geographic information into Global Map Specifications and Global Map version 1 , including the country- specific data sets developed by respective NMOs and Vegetation (Percent Tree Cover) Layer and Land Cover Layer (GLCNMO) covering the entire globe, are currently distributed to the public through Internet.
A digital map with 1 km resolution
The Global Map is provided in digital format for download via the Internet and easy handling by a computer. The 1 km resolution means that 1 pixel of image data corresponds to a 1 km square, which is equivalent to conventional maps at scales of 1: 1,000,000.
Containing eight types of geographical data
The Global Map contains 8 types of geographical data using a common format. The rule of expression is unified, so you can compare more than one country and area or grasp the state of the whole earth. In addition, the data will be updated at approximately five-year intervals to the extent possible to facilitate the monitoring of changes over time.
